I am honoured to host a guest blog post from Dax, who is an inspiring, wonderful writer. I asked him to write about hope and his response blew me away! Enjoy!
Hope, waiting and looking forward
When I was asked to do this guest post for Micheal, I was of course flattered and exceptionally grateful… Then when I realised I was to write about hope, I felt a bit uneasy.
You see, in writing this post, I just found out I don’t feel hope… so feel a bit of a charlatan. I used to feel hope, but now I feel something more, something bigger. Please let me try to explain:
So many people want everything in an instant… wealth, success, love, joy, fulfilment.
And when it doesn’t happen instantly, they lose hope and give up on their dreams. This is such a great sadness – we live in a modern world that is full of instant gratification… So much so, that we think the important stuff… the stuff like fulfilment and joy, should come instantly too.
Hope is the magic that makes big goals come true, that makes our dreams become a reality – to lose it just because our goals don’t manifest instantly is a travesty.
There is a little known secret about hope, that I stumbled across in my own life and I would like to share with you. Hope needs feeding – Hope without action or progress, will die a quick and untimely death. However feeding hope a healthy diet of consistent positive action, you will observe that hope begins to flourish.
The more action you take, the more hope grows and in turn motivates you even more to persist in chasing your dreams.
It grows and grows and grows… and as it grows, you will improve, you will progress and you will develop. It does take time to grow, sometimes years, but if you stay determined, if you keep on moving forward, even when you don’t feel like it… then something amazing happens…
Hope changes into a new feeling, which is even more powerful – Hope transforms into inevitability.
Month after month of hoping… year after year… and then one day you will know… it’s inevitable you will make your dreams a reality. You will have come too far. You will have taken too much action. You will have bounced back from too many failures, to ever be stopped.
Feed your hope with action.
And one day hope will become inevitability and everything you ever wanted is just a matter of time.
My childhood years indicated to me that I wasn’t worthy… Not worthy of development, not worthy of focus, not worthy of support… and this became a self-fulfilling belief. However, at 17 years old, I spent a summer with a friend’s family… This family taught me many things, non-more so than that everyone is worthy. That support can be given without conditions and that true growth comes from within. Since then I take every opportunity to inspire, support, challenge and grow those around me. I believe that everybody deserves the chance to reach their potential… On my website http://www.daxmurphy.com I share my knowledge of leadership and life, with the intention of inspiring you to reach for the best version of you.
