New Years Inspiration: end of January- persevere!

So January ends soon, I hope it has been good for you.

If you made a New Years resolution, or wanted to improve something in your life, you are one month into it so far, so how is it going?

A wonderful inspiring little man! 😊

Here are five ideas I’d like to share to keep you determined through these dark, cold January days:

1. Pace yourself

It’s easy to try and see the year, 2017, as a whole. And to live under a weight of expectation for it. But each year only plays out one day at a time. So if you are making changes in your life, know that  they may take a full year, or more. So don’t worry if you haven’t achieved them in January, or even if you haven’t seen any progress at all! Now is the time to be planting seeds in hope, knowing spring will soon be here.

2. Be kind to yourself

Odds are, if you are committed, you have been going at things pretty hard. Or perhaps the other way, you just can’t seem to get going. Relax, both, or even a mixture of the two, are normal. If you take the time to acknowledge this, congratulate and support yourself, you will feel more able to carry on.

3. Stay mentally well

It’s so easy to feel sorry for ourselves. To complain, to beat ourselves up. And yet, to put it bluntly, this will neither improve ourselves nor make us happier. It is a habit to break. When I am tired or hungry or both (!) I find my mind goes for a wonder down negative road and I have to pull it back in. The best way I have found is to let negative thoughts just come and go and not attach anything to them, whilst focusing on a positive phrase, such as, I‘m doing my best or everyday I’m getting better.

4. Keep your mind on the big picture

Every day is important and yet not all parts of it are. We needs to be able to figure out which is which.  Remember who you are and what you are aiming to achieve. Think about it daily, remember you are on your way there and stay relaxed. This will help you to not be upset by annoying daily occurrences such as rain, traffic, colds, tiredness or other peoples’ negativity.

5. You must do something new

Your body and mind are the way they are because of the thoughts, actions and experiences of your past. In order to change in any of these areas, requires your to do different things. So for your body, you must try different exercises or combinations. For your mind, you must trying different thoughts and patterns and for your experiences, seek out brand new, fresh, vital experiences. It is only in doing, trying and being these new, different things that you will experience new and different outcomes and rewards.

I wish you the very best on your journey, keep going!

New Years Inspiration: gymnastics! ☺

Dearest readers,

My gymnastic adventures continue! Yesterday I was determined that I was going to land a front somersault… and I did!

It is so liberating and wonderful to see what the human body is capable of under the right conditions! In two hours of trampolining I can now do front, side and back somersaults. This has been a wonderful boost for my confidence in both my body and my mind’s. abilities. I thoroughly recommend that you try going to a trampolining park, to experience the joy of flight! It’s fantastic.

The key I found is to believe that you are going to land a particular move, to tell your body that you are going to, to feel the movement in your body and once you are bouncing high enough, to clear your mind and just let it happen.

I am very excited to see what will come next!

Hugs and flips

New Years Inspiration: try something new! Yoga

Good morning!

This year I have been trying out lots of new things- horse riding, trampolining and yesterday I tried out a new type of yogaKundolini.

Having practised yoga for years, I was keen when my brother told me that it was challenging! And it was good fun. If you’d like to try it, here’s three things that I enjoyed about it:

1. Breathing– there are several different breathing exercises which you can try, such as breath of fire. 🔥They are easy to do but difficult to master! I find that after doing them I am more relaxed.

2. Stamina– you need stamina for Kundolini! Some of the movements are practised over 💯 times and for several minutes! A good challenge for the body.

3. Chanting. This was my favourite part. I am from a very musical family and we love to sing and play instruments. Chanting mantras as a group was very enjoyable. Hearing several people hitting the same notes and holding them produces a very powerful sound, which I enjoyed. We used the mantra ong nano guru dev namo, which I was told helped us tune in with other teachers.

I’ll definitely be going back and I’d recommend that if you want something a little bit different from your exercise, that you check it out!

New Years Inspiration: nothing is impossible

Good morning,

I hope that you enjoyed my first post from Dax! Today I’d like to remind you of something I re learned yesterday: nothing is inpossible.

Me at Energi in Preston, Lancashire, England
Yesterday, after less than an hour I was able to perform side and backwards somersaults. If you had told me I could do this, I might have said it would be inpossible. But it wasn’t! What you don’t see in this video is how many times I tried and failed, fell over, scraped my elbow and how out of breath I was. But I did it! And let me tell you, when you land that first flip onto your feet properly, you feel incredible, you have broken through a barrier and lifted the bar on what is possible for your body.

Here are 3 things I learned yesterday:

1. When attempting something difficult, do not give up

This is simple to understand but not easy to do. Just keep going despite how many times you are getting it wrong. Listen to feedback, change bits and keep going!

2. Do not over think, let go of everything

This changed things for me. Once I quietened my mind I was able to just focus on moving and to be inside the movement properly.

3.Take advise from those better than you and stay humble

I was very lucky as there were several members of the street monkeys team available to provide information, give demos and help me out. I stayed humble, remained willing to learn and because of this, progressed quickly.

So there you go, things that seem impossible really can be done in a very short space of time. I hope that these tips inspire and help you towards success and happiness in your life and that when you get discouraged, remember that humans can now- fly, split atoms, clone things, travel in space, communicate world wide in seconds and tap into our infinite potential.

Remember, nothing is impossible!
